Setting a price based on the perceived value of the product to the customer rather than on cost or on rivals.

Competitor-Based Pricing
Competitor based pricing looks sideways at rivals; value based pricing looks at the customer's own sense of worth.
Cost-Based Pricing
Value based pricing starts from what the customer thinks it is worth; cost based pricing starts from the ledger.
