Decision-Making Criteria

The standards used to compare possible choices, covering the key costs and benefits a decision will be judged on.

Criteria include quantifiable costs and benefits such as production costs, total sales, and profits, and intangible ones such as reputation, mission, and core values. They can also be market, operational, or organizational considerations.

Benchmark
Criteria judge options before a decision is made; a benchmark judges results after they exist.
Criteria
The two are used interchangeably in this course; decision-making criteria is simply the fuller name for criteria applied to a business decision.
