How MAMAKO protects student data.
MAMAKO shows live captions of what a teacher says, explains hard words for students learning in English, and writes a short recap after class. It is built to collect as little as possible, and to keep student information out of it wherever it can.
During the lesson
- The teacher’s voice, not the room
- On the teacher’s laptop, a filter tuned to the teacher’s voice replaces quieter sound, such as students talking across the room, with silence before anything is sent.
- Text in real time, no recordings
- Speech becomes caption text as the teacher talks, and MAMAKO keeps no recording of the lesson.
- Student names removed
- The names on the teacher’s class roster are removed from the text before anything is saved.
- Translation stays on the laptop
- Caption translation happens on the teacher’s own computer. The translated text never reaches MAMAKO.
After the lesson
- The teacher stays in control
- The teacher reads and edits the recap before anyone else sees it.
- Transcripts do not linger
- The word-for-word transcript is for the teacher only, and it is deleted automatically seven days after the lesson.
- Sharing without names
- Teachers share recaps, class glossaries and family updates by link. Shared pages never show student names, and a teacher can switch a link off at any time.
Our commitments
- We never record or store classroom audio.
- We never sell school data, show ads or build profiles.
- We do not use school data to train AI models.
- We keep no assessment of any named student.
- Students need no account. They read what their teacher shares.
What is kept, and for how long

Deletion and security. A school can ask us to delete all of its data at any time. We delete it within 30 days and confirm in writing. If a security incident ever affects school data, we tell the school within 72 hours.
