Gross Income
The total amount earned during a pay period before any taxes or other deductions are removed. It is the top line of a pay stub, not the amount deposited.
Often confused with
- Net Income
- Gross is earned before deductions; net is what remains after every deduction.
- Taxable Income
- Gross income is everything earned; taxable income is what is left for a rate to touch after deductions.
