Opportunity (SWOT)
An external positive factor beyond a business's control that may contribute to its success.
Named examples include reduced competition, technology advancements, market growth, and regulatory change that runs in the business's favor. An opportunity is only worth listing if the business could realistically reach it.
Often confused with
- Opportunity (business idea)
- An opportunity in Unit 1 is a customer problem a business could solve; a SWOT opportunity is an outside condition the business does not control that could help it.
- Strength
- An opportunity is external and outside the business's control; a strength is internal and already in hand.
