Simple Interest
Interest calculated only on the original principal, never on interest already earned.
Simple interest grows in a straight line: the same dollar amount each period, because the base never changes.
Often confused with
- Compound Interest
- Simple interest pays on the principal only; compound interest pays on the principal plus interest already credited.
