Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
The shared accounting rules that require corporations selling ownership shares to the public to disclose all of their financial information consistently, positive and negative, each reporting period.
Reporting is typically quarterly, meaning every three months, or annually. The word that carries the weight is consistently: the schedule does not move to flatter the story.
