The transcript saves automatically. By the time the lesson ends, MAMAKO has already turned the session into a summary, vocabulary explanations drawn from what was actually said in the room, and flashcards for review. MAMAKO transcribes English, so classroom audio must be in English. Glossing, translation, and vocabulary support are then available in 13 languages: Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Korean, Japanese, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian.
MAMAKO uses production-grade speech-to-text to generate live captions. Accuracy is highest with a clip-on or headset microphone, a teacher speaking at a normal pace, and a room with typical classroom acoustics. Built-in device microphones work, but transcription quality drops as the room gets noisier or the teacher moves further from the device. No automatic transcription is perfect. For a multilingual student trying to catch one unfamiliar word in the moment, "close enough, in real time" is the support that matters.
A laptop with Chrome or Edge, an internet connection, a microphone close to your mouth, and the projector, classroom TV, or interactive whiteboard you already teach with. There is nothing to install.
A wireless clip-on lavalier microphone paired to the device you are recording from. The mic stays inches from your mouth while you walk around the room, which produces the cleanest transcription regardless of classroom noise. A built-in device mic or a wired headset works if that is what you have, but a wireless lavalier is the setup we recommend.
Neither. During class the captions are on the board, so students need nothing at all. For after-class access, students join with the class code their teacher gives them; creating a free account is optional and keeps their Word Bank and saved materials across classes and devices. Yes. MAMAKO does not store raw classroom audio after transcription. We do not train AI models on your classroom content. We do not sell or share student data. The platform is FERPA-aligned for US-curriculum schools and designed around international school data norms everywhere else.
